dance    -    holistic health

Clare trained as a classical & contemporary dancer and musician and holds a B Hum in dance & music and an MA in drama & theatre arts. She began her career as a performer with "Second Stride" dance company and presenting her own choreographic works for The Place, London. Following various works with American composer Philip Glass, she became resident choreographer and director at English National Opera, London. She has created productions for The Lyric Opera of Chicago, Los Angeles Opera, Seattle and San Francisco Operas, Netherlands Opera, Wiesbaden & Kiel Operas, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Sadlers Wells, BBC Proms, Paris Opera Bastille.

As a result of dance injury, her work deepened to include studies in holistic health in chi kung and therapeutic massage. She published her own movement method - ‘The Energy Source’ – simple daily exercise for mind and body vitality – enhancing movement through visualization of energy. This work, begun in productions at English National Opera, Opera de Paris and the Royal Opera House, was recognized with a Laurence Olivier nomination for outstanding achievement in opera. Developing her holistic health focus further, she went from her own clinic practice to became Managing Director of Six Senses Spas, international wellbeing company, responsible for business development and holistic operations in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Clare currently balances holistic health consulting and a classical ballet teaching practice, avidly promoting scientific research on the wellbeing benefits of dance for all. Her teaching ranges from elite performers, pre-professsionals and dance teachers, to adult beginners and older adult learners.

Her ‘holistic ballet'® approach to training integrates somatic techniques based on chi kung supported by the latest 'attentional focus' research findings of sports science to maximize effectiveness. (Opera de Paris, The Royal Ballet, Finnish National Ballet, Ballet de l'Opera National du Rhin, L'Ecole Superieure de Danse Cannes et Marseille, The Royal Academy of Dance). She also specializes in ‘dancing longevity’® - dance practice for older adults as Continuous Professional Development for teachers.
